Environmental,
Water and Land Use Group
Water Law
Over the last seventy years, Price, Postel & Parma LLP has been
more active in the practice of water law than any firm in Santa Barbara
County. The firm represents private individuals and corporations,
mutual water companies, water districts and other governmental agencies
in all matters involving water rights and the protection and development
of water resources, especially in the Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties
area.
Attorneys regularly appear before the State Water Resources Control
and Regional Water Quality Control Boards regarding water rights
and quality questions. The firm has represented a city in drafting
legislation to manage a groundwater basin and has participated in
State administrative proceedings regarding water rights in the Santa
Ynez River and related environmental considerations, including fisheries
protection, in-stream flow requirements, endangered species and public
trust doctrine issues.
Members of this practice group also regularly serve as general counsel
to water, fire and sanitary agencies.
Price, Postel & Parma, LLP has several
attorneys who specialize in land use, environmental and water law.
In addition, several attorneys from the firm's Litigation Practice
Group regularly represent clients in these areas.
Land Use
In the land use area, the firm represents
individuals and private and governmental entities in all phases of
the land use and real estate development process, including representation
before state, county, special district and city boards, councils
and commissions. The firm also proposes, reviews, and comments upon
proposed land use laws and regulations, participates in meetings
with government managers and staff, and represents clients in litigation
involving the interpretation and validity of land use laws, regulations,
and agency actions.
Environmental Law
In the field of environmental
law, the firm assists individuals, businesses and government agencies
in dealing with the rapid developments in environmental regulation.
Currently, we represent clients in matters involving hazardous wastes;
the cleanup and remediation of contaminated sites; the application
of federal and state wildlife and habitat protection laws, including
the Endangered Species Act; water quality protection problems; and
in administrative proceedings and litigation in all of these areas.
